Autoclaved aerated concrete is one of the most effective materials for providing a firewall. 100mm thick Hebel will achieve a 4 hour fire rating, which is the highest rating possible and far superior to normal brickwork or concrete. Power Panel walls achieve a 3 hour fire rating, also far exceeding New Zealand's building requirements.
-Earthquake resistant
Heavy masonry structures have a tendency to tear themselves to pieces in an earthquake. The low weight and the height to weight ratio of its construction has ensured many AAC buildings have survived earthquakes unscathed.

3. Engineering
Structures that would otherwise be impractical to build due to the strength required to support its own weight can be built with Hebel
-Lightweight
The aerated structure results in a weight of only about one fifth of normal concrete, approximately equal to the density of pine. This results in less load concerns.
-High Strength to weight ratio
Unlike polystyrene or plaster systems CSR Hebel blocks and panels are solid, robust and impact resistant. Hebel construction can be self supporting, greatly reducing the need for framing, bracing and supports.

AAC is easily cut, shaped, drilled and nailed using normal hand tools. Wiring, plumbing etc can be readily installed by routing channels into block walls.

The easy workability allows Hebel to be readily cut to virtually any shape or angle. Hebel systems can be used for walls, roofs, floors, balconies, fire places, stairs, fences and noise barriers in both load bearing and non-load bearing applications.
